More than 150 youth attended the inaugural WAMY Regional Youth Convention 2016 (RYC 2016) on the 10 and 11 November 2016. Participants include youth from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Philipines as well as some international students from the Middle East.
This year’s RYC was held at Hotel Bangi-Putrajaya with the theme “Youth In A Digital World” and was officiated by Datu Haji Misnu bin Haji Taha, President, Islamic Council of Sarawak and Deputy President of HIKMAH.
Representative of WAMY South East Asia and Chairman of WAMY Malaysia, Prof Emeritus Dato’ Abang Abdullah Abang Ali delivered the keynote for the convention titled “Digital Da’wah” which called for the youth to become cybertroopers also known as Do Gooders to help in spreading positive messages about Islam.
Guests from regional WAMY offices, local universities, NGOs attended the convention. A total of 3 speakers presented their papers and 3 panelist share their experience using digital media for da’wah.
CEO of WAMY Malaysia, Ustaz Shahrin Awaludin thanked all the participants and guest for supporting the program and making RYC 2016 a success.
WAMY Regional Youth Convention 2017 will be held in the Philipines, Insha Allah.
